The IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team titles are vacant after El Desperado’s injury.
NJPW revealed last month that Desperado had been diagnosed with spinal canal stenosis and a hernia, and he was pulled from Super Junior Tag League 2026. No timeline has been given for his return.
Mistico came out after the Super Junior Tag League final at Power Struggle on November 3 and said he and Desperado were giving up the belts. He tried to hand them to tournament winners Taiji Ishimori and Robbie X, who instead proposed a three-way match.
The match will be Ishimori and Robbie X vs. Robbie Eagles and Kosei Fujita vs. Mistico and a partner to be named. It has not been said whether it will take place at Wrestle Kingdom 21.
Ishimori and Robbie X beat Eagles and Fujita in the tournament final. Mistico teamed with Young Lion Masatora Yasuda in the tournament after Desperado withdrew.
