There has been a major development in the 2024 Opera Cup, as TJP steps in to face “Filthy” Tom Lawlor in a quarterfinal match at Summer of the Beasts. This change comes following the unfortunate withdrawal of Davey Boy Smith Jr., who was forced out of the tournament due to injury.
The announcement, made earlier this week by Saint Laurent alongside Tom Lawlor and Davey Boy Smith Jr., revealed that Smith had suffered an injury during training, leaving a gap in the quarterfinals. TJP, an international trailblazer, has been activated as the tournament alternative, drastically shifting the dynamics of the match.
TJP, who made his MLW debut in 2004, brings a unique blend of speed, finesse, and a fusion of strong style and lucha libre that promises to challenge Lawlor in ways he hadn’t anticipated. TJP’s history in the Opera Cup is significant, having reached the finals in 2021. This time, he is determined to outlast and outfight Lawlor and any other opponent standing in his path to victory.
On the other side, Tom Lawlor, the 2020 Opera Cup winner, is filthy-focused on claiming his second title. With the devious Saint Laurent in his corner, fans can expect “Filthy” Tom and his manager to resort to any means necessary to secure the win.
The winner of this quarterfinal match will advance to face the victor of the AKIRA vs. KENTA match, with the semifinals scheduled to take place in Atlanta.
