Backstage News On Malakai Black’s AEW Status

AEW

This week’s AEW Dynamite featured a match between Adam Cole and Malakai Black, with Cole coming out on top. After the match, Black shared a moment with Cole, but then he glanced back at the ring, sparking rumors about his potential departure.

According to Fightful, there have been whispers in AEW that Black might be leaving by the end of this year or early 2025 if the company doesn’t pick up certain options. However, this hasn’t been officially confirmed. AEW CEO Tony Khan mentioned two years ago that Black’s contract was set for “almost five years.”

Fightful also noted that this timeframe includes option years. Back in 2022, there were speculations that Black wanted to go back to WWE, but AEW was not allowing talent to exit their contracts for that purpose.
