Following Saturday’s AEW Collision in Springfield, Massachusetts, AEW & ROH head Tony Khan made a special announcement to the live audience before the ROH TV taping, revealing the creation of the ROH Women’s Pure Championship. Khan himself presented the new title belt, stating that a tournament to crown the inaugural champion will commence at Supercard of Honor on May 2nd in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
However, further details regarding the tournament structure were not disclosed. This new championship becomes the third women’s title within ROH, joining the existing Women’s World Championship and the Women’s Television Championship, which was introduced in December 2023, bringing the total number of ROH championships to eight.
Matches contested for the Pure Championship in ROH adhere to distinct rules, including a limit of three rope breaks per wrestler for pinfall and submission attempts, restrictions on closed fist strikes to the face, the absence of outside interference, and the use of three judges to determine the outcome in the event of a time-limit draw. The current ROH Men’s Pure Champion is Lee Moriarty, who has defended the title six times since his victory in July 2024.
