Stokely Hathaway has officially aligned himself with the newly villainous tag team FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood), marking his return to AEW Dynamite after a hiatus. This unexpected partnership followed FTR’s brutal attack on the legendary Rock N’ Roll Express during the show.
According to a report from Fightful Select, the concept for this alliance was initially discussed within AEW as far back as last year, with sources indicating it was close to materializing. However, these plans were temporarily put on hold due to the organic surge in popularity of The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum). This shift in fan support led to a creative decision to pair The Outrunners with FTR instead, delaying Hathaway’s integration with the established team.
Hathaway’s reappearance on Dynamite signifies a significant change in direction for both him and FTR. His months-long absence from television had been subtly building towards this moment, with segments showing him scouting various tag teams, hinting at a future managerial role. This calculated build-up has now culminated in his association with FTR, adding a new layer of intrigue to their already compelling narrative as they embrace their darker side.
