AEW President Tony Khan sent the Detroit crowd home happy following the May 7, 2025, episode of AEW Dynamite. Addressing the fans live at the Masonic Temple Theatre after the show went off the air, Khan made a significant promise regarding the city’s future with AEW’s major events.
Prompted by chants from the audience, Khan definitively stated that AEW would bring a pay-per-view event to the Motor City. “I can guarantee we’re gonna do that,” Khan declared to a massive ovation from the Detroit faithful who immediately started chanting “Pay-Per-View!”
While not specifying a date or venue, Khan hinted at needing a larger location than the Masonic Temple for such a major show. “I just might need a bigger building for that. But I think I know one. Cause I think I’ve been there before,” he added.
This comment immediately fueled speculation among fans that Khan could be considering Detroit’s Ford Field for a future AEW PPV. Ford Field, home of the NFL’s Detroit Lions, notably hosted WWE’s WrestleMania 23 in 2007, demonstrating its capability for hosting large-scale wrestling events. Khan’s guarantee ensures Detroit is firmly in AEW’s plans for a future pay-per-view spectacle.
