Jeff Jarrett shared his somewhat detached impressions of WWE Backlash, admitting he didn’t watch the event live due to working an independent show himself. On his “My World” podcast, he relayed the unenthusiastic feedback from his travel companion, “Codes,” and offered a lighthearted critique of Pat McAfee’s appearance.
“My man Codes was watching again on his phone, but Conrad, I just kind of say right now, he was not into it at all,” Jarrett revealed. “I drilled him with some questions… and there was just a general overall, just kind of [unimpressed sentiment]. He just wasn’t there for him.” Jarrett added that “Codes” also “didn’t like the press conference either,” specifically a clip involving R-Truth. “So I think on the out, he’d give it a double thumbs down.”
Jarrett’s only direct observation came via a visual of Pat McAfee post-match. “I know on the ride home, he showed me Pat McAfee’s chest,” Jarrett said. “And I just gotta say, Brother, brother, Pat, I love you, man, and I think you are super, super talented. But no tan, no muscle tone, let’s keep that shirt on. Let’s just keep that shirt on.” He concluded he didn’t have “a ton of feedback” or an “earth-shattering” review due to his limited exposure.
WWE Hall of Famer and AEW Director of Business Development Jeff Jarrett recently shared a personal note about staying active on the independent wrestling scene. Speaking on his “My World” podcast, Jarrett mentioned a recent appearance that took him back to his formative years.
“Did a little independent wrestling Saturday night. Joe Burns High School up in Tennessee, it’s still a small little community,” Jarrett stated. He noted the personal connection to the area: “I played little high school basketball up there, Connie, so got to reminisce with some folks that actually graduated same year I did anyway. Good old independent wrestling.”
This appearance highlights Jarrett’s continued involvement in wrestling at various levels, even while holding a significant executive role in AEW. His willingness to work independent shows, especially those with personal significance like returning to a community from his youth, demonstrates his enduring passion for the sport.
The brief anecdote also underscores the vibrant independent wrestling circuit that continues to provide platforms for legends and up-and-coming talent alike, often fostering unique connections with local fanbases.
