Tony Khan Details His ‘Fairway to Hell’ Crossover Concept

AEW President Tony Khan has an ambitious and creative idea for a future crossover event that would bring together the worlds of professional wrestling and professional golf for a good cause. In a recent interview, Khan detailed his concept for a two-day event that would feature a charity golf tournament called “Fairway to Heaven,” followed by a special, similarly-themed episode of AEW Dynamite.

Tony Khan’s Vision for a Wrestling and Golf Crossover

Speaking on the My Mom’s Basement podcast with Robbie Fox of Barstool Sports, Tony Khan broke down his unique idea for a charity and crossover event. The concept stems from a trademark that AEW filed for the term “Fairway to Hell” in June of 2024, a move that sparked speculation among fans. Khan has now revealed the full scope of his vision, which is even more ambitious than the trademark suggested.

“I want to do a charity golf tournament called — and this is something I’m breaking on My Mom’s Basement with the great Robbie Fox — I want to do a charity golf tournament called Fairway to Heaven,” Khan said. “And then have wrestlers and golfers, and people participate for charity at Fairway to Heaven, and then do Dynamite, have the charity golf tournament on Tuesday, and then do Dynamite in the same city or region on Wednesday, [and call it] Fairway to Hell.”

A New Frontier for Themed Events

The “Fairway to Hell” concept would be a natural fit for AEW, a company that has had a great deal of success with special, themed episodes of its weekly television shows. Annual events like Winter is Coming, Grand Slam, and Blood & Guts have become can’t-miss television spectacles for AEW, often featuring pay-per-view quality matches and major storyline developments. The “Fairway to Hell” episode, with its unique branding and the potential for celebrity involvement from the golf tournament the day before, would be a creative and exciting addition to that lineup. Khan believes the crossover has the potential to bring new fans to both sports.

“Hopefully, it could bring some new fans to golf and some new fans to wrestling, because I think there’s more of a crossover between the sports than people realize,” he stated.

Wrestling and Charity: A Long-Standing Tradition

Tony Khan’s idea also taps into the long and proud tradition of the professional wrestling industry’s involvement with charitable causes. For decades, major wrestling promotions have used their massive platforms to raise money and awareness for a wide variety of charities. Khan’s “Fairway to Heaven” tournament would be an innovative and entertaining way to continue that tradition. By bringing together AEW wrestlers, professional golfers, and other celebrities, the event would have the potential to raise a significant amount of money for a great cause while also creating a unique and fun piece of content for fans. While there is no official word on when or if the inaugural “Fairway to Heaven” and “Fairway to Hell” events will take place, the concept is another example of Tony Khan’s ambitious and creative vision for the future of All Elite Wrestling.
