Former TNA Knockout Velvet Sky has looked back on an infamous 2009 speech TNA President Dixie Carter gave to the locker room, criticizing it as “nonsense” and an “ego stroke.”
The speech, which was filmed and aired on TNA programming, featured Carter addressing her recent decisions, including hiring Hulk Hogan. She stated it was “time for a change” and demanded talent support her “100%” or leave the company.
Velvet Sky, who was a key part of the roster at the time as a member of The Beautiful People, recently retweeted a video of the speech and offered her harsh, behind-the-scenes perspective of the talent’s reaction.
“I remember this day. The consensus of the locker room and staff during this “meeting” was not one single person gave a shit what she was saying and we actually had to take time out of production day for this nonsense from her and it had to be filmed so she could have her “my way or the highway” ego stroked even more. She was not well received by most because of the way she treated people who could do nothing for her and the way she would talk down to people. Vile.”
Carter’s time in charge of TNA ended in 2017 when she sold the company to Anthem Sports and Entertainment.
