Rob Van Dam has built a Hall of Fame career on being “One of a Kind,” and he believes modern wrestlers could learn from his approach.
In an interview with CJ Perry, RVD emphasized the importance of individuality, sharing advice he received from Sabu.
“Don’t try to be like someone else. There’s already one of those guys… create your own spot,” RVD said.
He critiqued the current state of the industry, noting that wrestlers today often perform the same moves regardless of promotion. Interestingly, he admitted that his signature Five-Star Frog Splash wasn’t entirely original but became his own through execution.
“It was the one move that I didn’t like originate… I did try to make it different by spinning in the air and going for the furthest corner… and what I could do to make it mine.”
