Following confirmation from New Japan Pro-Wrestling that EVIL will depart the company at the end of the month, new details have emerged regarding his next destination. Fightful Select reports that WWE and other Japanese promotions are currently viewed as the most likely landing spots for the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
According to the report, EVIL has recently been spotted backstage at multiple WWE events, and talks between the two sides have taken place. Sources within NJPW informed Fightful Select that while the 39-year-old has options in Japan, the expectation is that he will attempt to relocate to the United States. Notably, the report states that EVIL is not expected to sign with AEW.
