AEW could be heading back to Mexico — and it might be bigger than before. At the Revolution post-show press conference, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that the promotion is currently in conversations about returning to Mexico for another Grand Slam event, and floated the idea of a full pay-per-view in the country as a future possibility.
The announcement came as the newly crowned AEW World Trios Champions Mistico, Kevin Knight, and Mike Bailey joined Khan at the podium — a fitting backdrop given the lucha libre connection. “I absolutely am focused on going back for Grand Slam Mexico which was such a huge success for us,” Khan said. “Grand Slam Mexico was the most-watched AEW Dynamite last year. It’s one of the most successful AEW Dynamites ever.”

Khan didn’t stop at the idea of a television special. When pressed about the possibility of a full PPV in Mexico, he left the door open. “A pay-per-view could be a great thing. I know that we are, right now, in conversations about going back for Grand Slam Mexico which is a hugely exciting thing for me. Of course, that was such a great memory for us.”
AEW presented Grand Slam Mexico in June 2025 at Arena México, where the event drew massive viewership and cemented the promotion’s relationship with Mexican wrestling fans. With stars like Mistico now officially All Elite and the CMLL dual-contract pipeline active, a return to Mexico appears to be a genuine priority for AEW in 2026.
