Jack Perry’s AEW National Championship victory at Revolution meant more than a title win — it was a full-circle moment inside the very arena where he once walked as a child holding his father’s hand. At the post-show media scrum, Perry opened up about the bittersweet nature of the night, holding back emotion as he reflected on winning in a building forever tied to memories of his late father, Luke Perry, who passed away in March 2019.
“Today, coming here and being in this building, the only time I’ve been here is walking around with my dad,” Perry said. “It was interesting, and it was really cool for me to be here in this way, but it was also sad because the person I wish could be here the most isn’t here.” He found comfort in having his mother, sister, and best friend Luchasaurus present for the moment — the latter having nearly died from a serious illness less than a year ago.
Perry Admits He Questioned His Life Choices Before Tonight Reaffirmed Everything
Perry didn’t shy away from admitting his darkest moments of self-doubt. “There were times when I wondered, ‘Did I give my life to the wrong thing? Am I not doing well enough? Did I make a mistake?’ I’ve questioned that at times, which hurts.” The championship win in that particular building gave him the answer he’d been searching for. “To be here now and succeed in such an overwhelming way, with my family and friends, in a company I’ve been a part of since day one — that reaffirms to me that I made the right choice. I thought, I hope somewhere you can see this.”
