Dexter Lumis said Paul Heyman was pushing for him to be moved into a singles role shortly before the Wyatt Sicks were released from WWE.
Speaking on Insight, Lumis said he spent his time backstage talking to veterans rather than waiting to be booked, and that Heyman was one of the people he spoke with regularly.
“I walked around the building all night, and I talked to important people, and picked veterans’ brains. And I was talking to Paul Heyman quite a bit, who I respect the hell out of, and I was getting some great advice from him,” Lumis said. “One of the things he was saying was like, we need to make you a singles guy. This was very late, towards the end of the Wyatt Sicks run.”
Lumis said the conversations left him thinking a change was coming, but not the one that arrived.
“I almost felt like something was brewing. But I just didn’t think like the whole group’s going to be released,” he said.
Lumis was a WWE Tag Team Champion during his run with the company.
