A full Cody Rhodes heel turn is not part of WWE’s plans as things stand, according to WrestleVotes.
The report stated that the idea has not been ruled out entirely, but that merchandise is a factor in the decision. Rhodes remains one of the company’s strongest sellers, and the report said WWE is not willing to put those sales at risk for a television story. A darker, more aggressive version of the character is something WWE could continue to explore without turning him.
The question followed Rhodes’ match with Randy Orton at Sunday Night’s Main Event, which turned into a brawl involving Rhodes’ family and left Orton bleeding. Rhodes hit Orton with the steel steps and delivered two Cross Rhodes before Orton asked him to stop, then used a low blow and an RKO to win.
