The Motor City Machine Guns’ latest absence from AEW programming reportedly has more to do with prior commitments than any creative issue.
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have been off AEW television again after returning at All In 2026 and appearing on Collision two weeks earlier. Speaking on Fightful’s post-Dynamite show, Sean Ross Sapp said Shelley and Sabin had told AEW they wanted to honor previously booked tour dates before shifting focus to the promotion. Sapp added that the team was not necessarily looking to debut on the Detroit episode of Collision, but AEW decided the location made sense for their introduction.
Sapp also suggested AEW could have kept the Guns visible during their absence, saying, “You could have literally sent a camera crew to Detroit, filmed them on the streets of Detroit, showing why they love it so much, what it means to them. Find a way to get them on TV for one minute a week.”
