John Cena says his go-to Halloween costume is himself.
On The Romesh Ranganathan Show, Cena said his emergency costume is a replica of his WWE gear.
“So the trope, the easy one, is the John Cena costume. The jorts, the knee pads, the sneakers, the ball cap, the T-shirt, the double wristbands, the rally towel… It is a one-to-one replica. So that’s like if I need an emergency costume,” Cena said.
“If I need a costume. It’s failsafe. And to add to that, I think I keep that failsafe costume as like a crutch for not being motivated to dress up.”
Cena said he makes up for it with candy.
“I’m not anti-Halloween. So where I lack in like creativity and excitement to dress up in costumes, I make up for by being the candy house. I’m the king candy house.”
“Screw the full-size ones. I get the ones that is like, ‘This is diabetes in a wrapper. Here, take this.’ When I was young and I was trick-or-treating, I knew the one house in my neighborhood that did the full candy bar and I was lapping that house.”
Cena said his wife thought he was giving away too much candy.
“So we give king-size of everything, like oversized everything, and everyone is quite excited. So what I lack in costume enthusiasm, I make up for a reward for costume enthusiasm, because there needs to be both.”
