Kenny Omega is set to challenge Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 21 on January 4, 2027, at the Tokyo Dome.
Omega pinned Tsuji in a three-way match with Oleg Boltin at Power Struggle on November 3. Omega hit Boltin with the One Winged Angel but did not go for the pin, then beat Tsuji with a V-Trigger and the One Winged Angel.
After the match, Omega called his shot for a title match at Wrestle Kingdom. Speaking in Japanese, he said that while he is an AEW wrestler, he could use his free dates to wrestle in Japan more often if he becomes champion.
Omega returned to NJPW at King of Pro-Wrestling in October. He last held the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in 2019.
NJPW has not officially announced matches for Wrestle Kingdom 21, but these matches have been set up:
- IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Yota Tsuji (c) vs. Kenny Omega
- MJF vs. Ryohei Oiwa
- IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship: YOH (c) vs. SHO (If YOH loses, he must leave NJPW. If SHO loses, he must leave House of Torture and reunite with YOH.)
- Jon Moxley vs. Shingo Takagi
- Will Ospreay vs. Callum Newman
