Never one to shy away from controversy or adhere to conventional politeness, AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) turned his sharp tongue on a young fan via social media following the May 1st AEW Dynamite taping.
A photo surfaced showing a child in the crowd holding a sign that read: “I’m only 9 but still knows that MJF Sucks.” Seizing on the grammatical error (“knows” instead of “know”), MJF quote-tweeted the image with a scathing reply aimed directly at the nine-year-old fan.
“Knows?!? What a dumb piece of shit am I right?” MJF wrote, characteristically leaning into his abrasive heel persona.
This interaction comes as MJF is embroiled in a storyline attempting to join The Hurt Syndicate (MVP, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin). On the April 30th episode of Dynamite, Lashley told MJF he needed to prove himself by “hurting people.” While likely meaning physically, MJF’s response to the young fan could be interpreted as him taking Lashley’s instruction literally, albeit by targeting a child’s feelings and grammar online as part of his on-screen character’s desperate bid for acceptance into the group.
