The card for New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s (NJPW) major Dominion event on June 15 in Osaka-jo Hall has significantly taken shape, with the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match now officially confirmed. Champion Hirooki Goto will defend his title against “The Dragon” Shingo Takagi.
This main event was solidified after Takagi confronted Goto following his defense at Wrestling Dontaku, declaring he would challenge the winner of Goto’s Resurgence match against Zack Sabre Jr. That bout on May 9th ended in a controversial double pin draw, allowing Goto to retain and paving the way for this high-stakes encounter with Takagi at Dominion.
Two more significant matches were also added to the June 15 lineup. Konosuke Takeshita is set to defend his NEVER Openweight Championship against Oleg Boltin in what will be their rubber match, after Boltin defeated Takeshita in last year’s G1 Climax and Takeshita evened the score this past February.
Additionally, legendary figure Hiroshi Tanahashi will continue his farewell tour as he faces rising NJPW star Yuya Uemura in a special singles contest. These additions bolster an already strong card that includes a Dog Collar match between David Finlay and EVIL, and Yota Tsuji defending the IWGP Global Championship against Gabe Kidd.
