New ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions were crowned at the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view on Friday night in Philadelphia. The team of Shane Taylor, Shawn Dean, and Carlie Bravo, collectively known as Shane Taylor Promotions, defeated the trio of Sammy Guevara and The Von Erichs (Ross & Marshall Von Erich) to win the vacant championships. The championships had been vacated due to an injury to one of the previous champions, Dustin Rhodes, who had held the belts with The Von Erichs. Sammy Guevara was filling in for the injured Rhodes in the match.
It was a successful night for all the other defending champions on the card. In what many considered the match of the night, Bandido retained the ROH World Championship by defeating CMLL star Hechicero in a thrilling contest. The “Forever Champion” Athena continued her historic reign, successfully defending the ROH Women’s World Championship against Mina Shirakawa. As of this event, Athena’s reign is just days away from reaching the 1,000-day milestone. In another championship bout, Lee Moriarty retained the ROH Pure Championship, defeating Xelhua in a technical showcase that adhered to the strict Pure Rules. The show was a strong statement for the champions of Ring of Honor, with the Six-Man belts being the only championships to change hands.
