A new report from Fightful Select has provided some backstage details on two developing stories in All Elite Wrestling: the new theme song for the returning HOOK and the mysterious “El Clon” angle involving Hologram. HOOK made his long-awaited return to AEW television on the August 27 episode of Dynamite, confronting Wheeler Yuta and debuting a new entrance theme that caught the attention of many fans. The report confirms that the new song is “So Tell The Girls I’m Back In Town” by Jay-Jay Johanson. It was also noted that the choice of music was made by HOOK himself, indicating a personal touch to his repackaged presentation after being away for several months with a concussion. This move away from his popular Action Bronson theme, “The Chairman’s Intent,” was reportedly due to the rights to that song expiring earlier in the year, which explains why he had been making entranceless appearances before his injury.
The report also shed some light on the emerging storyline with Hologram and his sinister doppelgänger, “El Clon.” It was recently revealed on AEW programming that the luchador Arez is portraying the role of the clone. According to Fightful, the tentative plan for this storyline has been in place for over a year. The report emphasizes that, similar to other aspects of Hologram’s presentation in AEW, company president Tony Khan has been “very involved” in the creative direction of this specific angle. This suggests that the doppelgänger storyline is a significant creative priority for Khan and a long-term plan to elevate the undefeated high-flyer into a major star for the promotion.
