The championship match was originally scheduled to take place at the TNA Victory Road special event on Friday, September 26. However, the card for that show was reshuffled after Ash by Elegance was forced to relinquish the TNA Knockouts World Championship due to the emergence of domestic abuse allegations against her scheduled opponent, Masha Slamovich. This led to the tag team championship match being moved to the television taping the following night.
