Taz Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery

AEW

An update on Taz’s total shoulder replacement surgery was provided on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite broadcast. Lead commentator Excalibur announced that the “Human Suplex Machine” had undergone “successful” shoulder surgery.

On October 8, the former ECW and WWE star had revealed on social media that he would soon be undergoing surgery and taking time off from commentary. No specific timetable for his return or the exact date of the surgery was given.

In May 2024, Taz was informed that he needed both knees and shoulders replaced. At the time, he stated he would explore “regenerative procedures” instead of surgery. He eventually had one knee replaced in October 2024, which kept him off AEW television and pay-per-views until late December. The recovery from his new knee limited his ability to travel for events like August’s Forbidden Door and the preceding Dynamite in London, England. Taz attributed his injuries to intense gym workouts rather than the physical toll of his in-ring career. Fans are now awaiting further updates on his recovery and an estimated return to the AEW commentary booth, as the company’s programming continues to feature major storylines and events.
