Aleister Black and Zelina Vega have finally united on-screen in WWE, but according to Black, the plan has been in the works for years. In an interview with WrestleRant, Black revealed that WWE originally intended to pair the real-life couple during his first run in 2020.
“Back in 2020… we started running the installments of the ‘Dark Father’ character… There was an actual plan to align my wife with me initially. And we actually shot some test vignettes at that point.”
He noted that upon his return earlier this year, the idea was immediately discussed again. After some initial hesitation (“I don’t think that’s a good idea”), creative eventually decided the timing was right.
“I am extremely happy that we’re getting to do that… we have our own school. So we’ve been taking the time in the school to work on some pretty unique offense.”
