Aleister Black and Zelina Vega are reunited on-screen, but Black was careful to ensure the partnership didn’t dilute what makes Vega special.
The real-life couple joined forces on television in October. Speaking on The Babyfaces Podcast, Black explained that while their dynamic requires trust, he was adamant that Vega should not fundamentally change her character to fit his darker aesthetic.
“I didn’t want to lose Zelina Vega. And all of a sudden Zelina Vega becomes this Dungeons & Dragons character, and speaks in riddles and stuff like that. Because that’s not what Zelina Vega is,” Black said. “And I wanted her to still be able to deliver her zingers and stuff like that.”
Black noted that Vega has to tweak her presentation to “translate” his worldview, but the core of her personality must remain intact.
“She can’t be happy-go-lucky, street twang Zelina Vega and all that stuff. There has to be slight altercations. But they have to be minimal, but at the same time not lose what made her famous and popular in the first place.”
