For the first time in six years, the Dynamite Diamond Ring will belong to someone other than MJF.
The finals for the prestigious prize were determined during a 12-man battle royal on Wednesday’s Holiday Bash edition of Dynamite. The match came down to a thrilling conclusion involving ROH World Champion Bandido, Reigning AEW National Champion Ricochet, and Brody King. Ricochet benefited heavily from the assistance of the Gates of Agony throughout the bout, but the final moments saw Brody King eliminate himself to take out Toa Liona, leaving Bandido to eliminate Bishop Kaun with a reverse frankensteiner to secure his spot.
Ricochet and Bandido are now set to collide in a singles match on next week’s Dynamite on 34th Street special. The winner will not only claim the ring but also earn a future title shot in January. This matchup marks the first-ever singles meeting between the two high-flyers in AEW.
The battle royal field was stacked with top talent, including Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, Mark Davis, Ace Austin, Shelton Benjamin, Josh Alexander, and Luchasaurus. With MJF vacating his grip on the ring to focus on the World Title, the next custodian of the diamond will be crowned in just one week’s time.
Looking ahead to Dynamite on 34th Street on December 24, the show is shaping up to be a holiday spectacular. In addition to the Ricochet vs. Bandido final, fans can expect significant buildup for Worlds End, which takes place just three days later.
