Tony Khan Says Jon Moxley “Exceeded Expectations” In 2025

Tony Khan has nothing but praise for the work ethic of Jon Moxley in 2025.

In an interview with The Takedown via Sports Illustrated, the AEW President pushed back against critics who felt Moxley “underdelivered” this year. Khan revealed that the former World Champion began 2025 “pretty hurt” but refused to take time off, eventually wrestling 53 matches on television—17 more than the previous year.

“Jon was pretty hurt at the start of the year… He was banged up, and he worked his way back in without ever taking time off… The man’s a marvel,” Khan stated.

Khan highlighted Moxley’s feud with Hangman Page as the emotional anchor of AEW’s programming for much of the year, culminating in Page’s title win at All In: Texas. He also praised Moxley’s durability, comparing him to the touring champions of old.

“He’s the last 200-match-a-year, touring champion before he came to AEW… John’s wrestling was awesome all year. He put out his very best all year.”

Moxley capped off his year by winning the Continental Classic at Worlds End, defeating Kyle Fletcher and Kazuchika Okada in the same night to become the new AEW Continental Champion.
