Four-Way Tag Team Contenders Match Added To Dynamite Maximum Carnage

AEW

The stakes for this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite: Maximum Carnage have just been raised.

AEW President Tony Khan announced on social media that a four-way tag team match will take place on the January 14 episode to determine the new number one contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. The match will feature The Young Bucks, The Gates of Agony (GOA), JetSpeed, and the newly formed Don Callis Family duo of Mark Davis and Jake Doyle.

The Young Bucks enter the match with momentum, having won four straight bouts. However, all of those victories came in trios competition alongside partners like Josh Alexander, Kenny Omega, and Jack Perry. This will be a test to see if their tag team chemistry remains as dominant as their trios work.

The Gates of Agony are coming off a strong win on last weekend’s Collision, where they teamed with Ricochet to defeat JetSpeed and Anthony Bowens. While they had lost three straight prior to that, those defeats also came in multi-man matches. Notably, their last pure tag team match was a victory over The Hurt Syndicate back in October.

JetSpeed (Speedball Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight) will look to rebound from their recent loss. The duo has not competed extensively as a tag team in recent weeks, as both men were focused on singles competition during the Continental Classic tournament. They did, however, secure a win over Big Bill and Bryan Keith on the January 3 edition of Collision.

Perhaps the biggest wildcard in the match is the team representing the Don Callis Family. This will mark the first time Mark Davis and Jake Doyle have teamed together, and it will be the official AEW in-ring debut for Doyle, formerly known as Jake Something on the independent scene.

Tag Team Championship Contenders Match: The Young Bucks vs. GOA vs. JetSpeed vs. Mark Davis & Jake Doyle
