The deeply personal animosity between the power couples of CM Punk & AJ Lee and Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch shows no signs of cooling down. With AJ Lee scheduled to challenge Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship this Saturday at Elimination Chamber, the verbal warfare has escalated to new heights.
Respect Mixed with Venom
In a recent interview with ESPN’s Unsportsmanlike, AJ Lee offered a surprising mix of admiration and hostility toward her upcoming opponent. The former Divas Champion acknowledged Lynch’s standing in the industry but made her violent intentions clear.
“I love me some Becky, I feel like it is admiration, we’re very, very similar,” Lee stated. “I know I’m the best of my generation, I know she’s the best of hers, so it’s a morbid fascination of can I beat the best?… So I love her and I respect her and I want to beat her pretty little face in.”
While Lee maintained a level of professional respect, her husband, WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, took a much darker approach regarding Seth Rollins. Rollins is currently sidelined with a severe shoulder injury, but Punk expressed zero sympathy for “The Visionary.”
“I definitely hate Becky more than AJ does, and I can do without Seth,” Punk aggressively declared. “I don’t wish injury on anybody. He’s out with a pretty devastating shoulder injury and the only thing I can say is I wish he broke his jaw instead so I didn’t have to hear him talk.” Punk added that even his friends in Chicago are begging for Rollins to return to work just to get him off their television screens during football broadcasts.
