Jeff Jarrett said he can remember exactly where he was standing when the text came through about facing Blue Panther at CMLL’s 93rd Aniversario.
Jarrett challenged Panther on CMLL Informa and the match was confirmed for September 18 at Arena Mexico.
“I cannot tell you how excited I am,” Jarrett said on My World with Jeff Jarrett. “When I got the text, I can tell you not just that I was on a treadmill, I can tell you the treadmill that I was on in the gym when I looked at my phone and I go, oh boy, here we go. I think I might have an opportunity here.”
Jarrett said the match ranks with the highlights of the last few years of his career, which include a Dynamite main event against Bryan Danielson, an International Title match with Orange Cassidy and the Gauntlet at Wembley Stadium.
“Years ago it was part of the business and the grind, but when you get to this stage of my career, you just don’t think it,” he said. “It is right up there in one of the most magical opportunities. Now I got to make the best of it. I’m going to spoil a birthday party. Blue Panther’s birthday is this Friday, but against the legend, that to me is something that I am not taking lightly at all.”
