The expiration of AEW’s TV rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery has been a topic of discussion for months, but it seems that a resolution may be near.
WBD CEO, President David Zaslav, and TNT Sports head Luis Silberwasser are keen on retaining the five hours of AEW programming per week on TNT and TBS, which includes shows like Dynamite, Rampage, and Collision. The rumored figures being discussed exceed the estimated annual amount of $110 million.
However, the exclusive negotiation period between AEW and WBD is set to expire in a few weeks. Dave Meltzer reported the following in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
“There are expectations the deal would be announced imminently, maybe even before the expiration of the exclusive window for negotiating that is just about over. I will say that we’ve gotten people who say they know from all over saying completely contradictory things about the talks. It’s really a moment of truth and how it turns out will greatly shape the next several years. Khan has strongly suggested it’s good news and a game changer, and his rivals, quietly, have been getting word out it’s the opposite, because that’s how the game is played.”
