AEW President Tony Khan spoke with Maggie & Perloff, and he was asked about Shane McMahon in AEW.
It all started when Conrad Thompson shared on Grilling JR that he got a message from a buddy saying Shane McMahon has been in touch with AEW wrestlers to discuss the possibility of joining the promotion. It was purely in a hypothetical way.This is after Jim Ross said that he didn’t think the idea of McMahon appearing in AEW was as “crazy as you think.”
Dave Meltzer reported people from the AEW side who should know about this either haven’t heard anything or have only heard what Thompson said.
“Shane McMahon is somebody that I’ve never met, but he has a lot of experience in wrestling and a lot friends in AEW. I have never really had any conversations with him or talked to him ever. I know he ran into Mercedes Mone after Forbidden Door, which is a cool coincidence. I have never met him. I’d be open to talking to him, and he’s welcome to stop by at any time. I know that’s an interesting rumor. There have been all kinds of interesting people in wrestling to come into AEW and walk through that Forbidden Door. This might be, if it ever happens, one of the more shocking ones. Even though I’ve never talked to him, he seems like a really nice guy,” said Tony.
