AJ Lee shared a heartbreaking tribute to Larry, the rescue dog she shared with CM Punk, following his passing.
In a deeply personal Instagram post on January 13, Lee opened up about the impact Larry had on her life over the last decade. She revealed that when they first adopted him from PAWS Chicago, staff warned he was “chaotic” and a “lost cause” who had been returned by multiple foster homes.
“He survived abuse and abandonment and was just misunderstood. We knew he was perfect for us,” Lee wrote. “He snuggled on his terms, like a prickly cat… He helped get me out of the deepest depressive cycles and was the center of my happiest days.”
Lee noted Larry’s rise from an underdog shelter pet to a figure beloved by wrestling fans, appearing on billboards, merchandise, and in magazines like Rolling Stone. She admitted that the loss has been devastating, stating, “I am not okay, half my heart is gone.”
She concluded the post by encouraging fans to “adopt don’t shop,” calling rescue dogs “a special kind of magic.”
