WWE plans to feature Johnny Gargano more prominently, according to Sean Ross Sapp.
Gargano spent much of the year in a story built around losing his direction, and returned to the main event picture with a match against CM Punk on the September 4 SmackDown in Cleveland.
Asked during the Fightful Select Q&A whether a push is coming, Sapp said the plan is for Gargano to be used more often.
“I was told back in January when they started his angle there was no real end in sight for it. No real end game,” Sapp said.
He said the Punk match was the right way to bring Gargano back, while questioning the length of the layoff.
“Him having a great first-time match against CM Punk in Cleveland was a great way to bring him back. But he should have never been literally on the shelf for like eight months. He’s an incredible wrestler,” Sapp said.
